Obbsie: Chris was born and raised in Hackney. He served for 32 years in the Met and worked extensively with the Asian community as Special Branch officer in the 80's and 90's during periods of high tension. He was presented with a ceremonial sword by the UK's largest Sikh temple shortly after retirement in 2011. About one-third of his service saw him policing border controls in both the UK and Jamaica. Over an eight- year period he spent a total of 18 months undertaking a series of 'life changing' deployments to that country. He is a trustee of a small charity which was set up following those initial deployments and supported by police, customs and immigration officers. The charity both enables Jamaican children from the poorest backgrounds to remain in education and supports a refuge for abused children. Policing interests include football related violence, political extremism, gang, knife, gun & drugs crime and borders. Hobbies are football DJ'ing & 'commenting' for various media outlets on policing/border issues. Any renumeration received from ‘commenting’ (which isn’t often!!) or DJing is paid directly into the charity account.
